Rod Og Minor Club Awards Night
A Massive crowd packed into Rhode GAA hall last Friday night to watch 150 under-age footballers receive their hard earned medals for the great football skills and participation over 2015, Opening proceedings Minor Chairman Cathal Smyth welcomed all to this great evening and gave a special mention to the team managements and thanked them for all their great work and gave an excellent briefing on the year gone by. . Cathal Also acknowledged the Presence of members of Rhode GAA Club Minor Secretary Tracey Murphy , Coaching Co-Ordinator Stephen Darby, Treasurer Patricia McManus , Vice Chairman Cathal Swords and P.R.O Robert Kellaghan also the special guests for the evening two great Rhode Footballers Niall Darby and Alan McNamee who would be presenting the medals. The medal presentation then got under way with each team been invited group by group to receive their worthy medal.

Acting Chairman on the night of the Senior Club Cathal Swords (Vice Chairman) then spoke to those in attendance firstly apologising on behalf of Chairman Seamus Maguire who was recovering from a minor operation and wished him a speedy recovery, Cathal Thanked all those who made the night happen praising the team managements for all their magnificent work and gave a special word of thanks to Cathal Smyth (Minor Chairman) and Tracey Murphy (Minor Secretary) and Stephen Darby ( coaching C0-Ordinator ) for their hard work running the Minor Club . Also thanked by Cathal for their hard work promoting football were the Principals and teachers in The three Parish primary schools. The Final speaker of the evening was Coaching Co-Ordinator Stephen Darby who thanked the Rhode Footballers Niall Darby and Alan McNamee for coming down to wish the young lads the very best. Stephen went onto add that it has been a great joy for him to watch the young lads play and show great promise for the future that becomes a great learning experience that will benefit them throughout their life’s. In ending Stephen paid a special tribute to the parents of these great young children and wishing them a very happy Christmas and new year and hopes Santa Claus will be very good to the children.
All then headed out for refreshments in the room next door.
Rhode GAA would like to thank all who attended the awards evening especially the parents of our under-age players and Patricia McManus and Marie Fitzgerald who were on hand to serve up refreshments and also to our Minor club for their hard work It was a wonderful evening and we look forward to next year. A special mention has to go to all our great coaches and managements of our under-age teams who have giving their time and effort over the year and we look forward to working with them next year.!!
First Annual St. Stephens Day Charity Match
Rhode Senior Football Team are proud to be hosting a Charity Fun Game in aid of Dochas Offaly Cancer Support Group Tullamore .
The Present day Rhode senior team will play the 1998 winning championship/over 40s team in Fr. Dowling Park at 12 midday St. Stephens Day .
Donations can be made for this worthy cause on the day.
ALL Support on the Day will be very much appreciated and we hope players and supporters alike can get behind this worthy cause
There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto Draw that took place on the 7th of December for a Jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn were 8 13 20 25. The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Killeen’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation. The following matched three numbers and received €100 each

The Annual Christmas Draw will take place on Monday 21st December in Doyle,s with Plenty of Extra Prizes !!
The Rhode GAA Lotto is the main source of income the club has and now you can play online though our website. The good news is when you play the lotto online you are entitled to free draws, for example pay for seven draws receive the eighth one free, pay for fourteen draws receive two free and so on. In other words, the more you play the more free draws you are entitled to!!
Membership is now due and can be paid to any of our Membership officers listed Patricia McManus, Mary Hannon, Ger Hynes, Fionnuala Hickey, Seamus Maguire, Jody Kilmurray, James Murphy, John Glennon, Tracey Murphy , Robert Kellaghan right up to the 31st of March 2016.

Get well wishes are extended to all of the people of the parish who are ill or hospitalised at the moment especially Club Chairman Seamus Maguire who is recovering from a minor operation . All in Rhode GAA wish him a speedy recovery.
