Late Goals Sends Rhode to Semi’s

Rhode Senior footballers qualified for the semi-final of the Leinster Club Championship for the seventh time in their history when they recorded a 4-10 to 0-13 over Meath champions Navan O’Mahony’s in O’Connor Park on Sunday.  Rhode led at the interval 2-3 to 0-8 both goals coming from Glen O’Connell.  Rhode stretched their to four points midway through the second half only for Navan O’Mahony’s to draw it level with eight minutes to go but late goals for Rhode by Brian Darby and Niall McNamee left Rhode nine points up at full time.  It was a great win for Rhode so very well done to all and Rhode now meet Moorefield of Kildare in the semi-final on Sunday the 23rd of November in O’Connor Park.

The Club would like to thank all the supporters who turned out on Sunday and gave the team and club such a left.  Thanks also to all the people around Offaly who were also there to support the team it was greatly appreciated.  After the game the team and management had a meal in Doyle’s and thanks is expressed to them.  Thanks also to O’Toole’s when the team had a meal after the first round game against St. Patrick’s.

The club held a very enjoyable and memorable evening on Friday at the field when all the boys and girls who train on Saturday mornings attended to senior team training and met with all the players, enjoyed small games and had their photo taken with all the players and the children thoroughly enjoyed the evening and it was a great P.R event for the club.  Afterwards the children were treated to refreshments by the club which also went down well with all the children and parents.

Minor B Final Rhode v Na Fianna in O’Connor Park on Saturday at 1pm all support greatly appreciated.  The best of luck to the team and management team of Kyle Kavanagh, Anton Sullivan, Donal Hickey and Ger Hynes.
