Offaly End Nine Year Wait !!

Offaly Senior Footballers

Massive Congratulations to Offaly Senior Footballers  on their well deserved win over Longoford in the Leinster Championship in a Glorious O’Connor Park Tullamore Offaly’s first win in nine years. The Offaly players gave massive performances throughout the game with Offaly leading 1-12 to 1-6 at Half Time. Offaly came out all guns blazing again and never gave up till the end and great joy went around the grounds in O’Connor Park as Offaly won their first Leinster Championship game since 2007. Offaly 2-21 Longford 2-13. Rhode had four Starting players Niall McNamee  (4pts), Niall Darby ,Brian Darby , Eion Rigney and Anton Sullivan (2pts) came on as a sub. All gave great performances throughout.  A special mention also to another great Rhode man Richard ‘Frosty’ Dowling who is the Offaly Team Kitman .

Offaly willl now take on Rivals Westmeath on the 12th June in Mullingar.

Rhode are well represented with a eight  of our players on the Offaly Panel:

Offaly Division 2 League Champions !!

 

Rhode minors

Rhode 1-13 St.Vincents 1-08

Massive Congratulations to Rhode Minor Football Team and Management on winning the division 2 league beating St.Vincents in Ballinagar last Monday week. Rhode gave it their all throughout the game and with massive performances from all Rhode secured the win to bring back the first piece of silverware  off 2016 back to the Village. This is a massive achievement for this bunch of lads as down through the years silverware was lacking but this gives them great Confidence going into the Championship. A special mention to the Management Team of Paul Gizmo Glennon, Bill Glennon, Anthony Hyland and Derek Egan on this great win and we wish them the very best for the year ahead.

North Tier 2 League

Rhode Juniors got a great win last friday night in Rhode beating Clonbulloge on a score-line of  2-13 to 2-07.

We would like to wish our Player Mossy Muldoon a speedy return to the playing and training field after recieving an injury during last Friday’s game. A big thank you to Physios’s Martha Kellaghan and Geraldine McGovern who were a wonderful help dealing with the injury.

Lotto

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto Draw that took place on the 9th of May for a Jackpot of €15,000.  The numbers drawn were 7 12 17 18.  The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Otoole’s for the use of their premises and help and coperation.  The following matched three numbers and received €70 each.

The Rhode GAA Lotto is the main source of income the club has and now you can play online though our website.  The good news is when you play the lotto online you are entitled to free draws, for example pay for seven draws receive the eighth one free, pay for fourteen draws receive two free and so on.  In other words, the more you play the more free draws you are entitled to!

 

Wedding bells

Massive Congratulations to Former Rhode Footballer Mark Cole and his new wife Laura Carroll on their marriage which took place on Saturday 7th May in St.Peters Church Rhode. We wish you both a life full of happiness together.

 

Groundsmen.

Congratulations to Declan Chippy Nolan and Oliver Kesh Murphy on been appointed groundsmen of Fr.Dowling Park. The two are great servants of the club and our facilities could not be in better hands.

 

Get well

Get well wishes are extended to all of the people of the parish who are ill or hospitalised at the moment especially  Patricia Ennis, Anne Nolan.

A speedy recovery is wished to great Club man John ‘Beezy Glennon who is undergoing a minor operation . All In Rhode GAA wish him the very best and look forward to him  out and about again.
