Unbelievable Under 21 Record Ends

\"rhodeSt. Michael\’s the Rhode Parish Under 21 team were defeated by St. Broughan\’s in the quarter final of the Offaly Under 21 Championship on Friday night in Walsh-Island on a 4-11 to 0-9 score line. The first half of this game was well contested with St. Broughan\’s leading at the interval 1-5 to 0-6. St. Broughan\’s with county star Peter Cunningham was in great form took complete control to win easily in the end. The Rhode parish side fielded a very young team they tried valiantly and never gave up. It ends a great run at this level for St. Michael\’s as they have won the last three championships in a row and since 1999 they have won ten championships at this level. The club would like to thank the team management, players and the St. Brigid\’s and Clonmore Harps club for their cooperation with the parish side.

Rhode Senior footballers gained second victory in this year\’s league when they recorded a four point win over Tullamore in Rhode in Sunday morning.

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto for the week ending 17th of March for a Jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn were 5 18 20 21 . The club like 6to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to O\’Toole\’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation. Offaly Under 21 footballers were beaten by Meath in the Leinster championship semi final on Wednesday night in Parnell Park on a scoreline of 2-16 to 1-10. Offaly led at the interval by one point but were outscored by Meath in the second half by 2-08 to 0-04. On the team and panel from Rhode parish under 21 side St, Michael\’s were Ruairi McNamee, Conor McNamee, Philip Foy and Thomas Mooney.

Offaly senior footballers play Limerick in their second last league game on Sunday in O\’Connor Park at 2pm. On the panel for selection from the club are Shane Sullivan, Niall Darby, Conor McNamee, Anton Sullivan, Pauric Sullivan and Niall McNamee who will captain the side.

Offaly senior hurlers won their first game in this year\’s division 1 B when they recorded a 5-27 to 4-9 win over Antrim in O\’Connor Park on Sunday. Despite the victory Offaly will play Antrim again next weekend this time in an Antrim venue in the relegation play-of f.

Sympathy is extended to the Carroll Family of Croghan on the death of their mother Betty whose remains were interred in Croghan Cemetery on Sunday of last week also Sympathy to the Flynn Family of Edenderry and the Hackett family of Edenderry and the Hanlon Family of Daingean.
