Rhode Senior footballers qualified for the semi-final of the Leinster Club Championship for the seventh time in their history when they recorded a 4-10 to 0-13 over Meath champions Navan O’Mahony’s in O’Connor Park on Sunday. Rhode led at the interval 2-3 to 0-8 both goals coming from Glen O’Connell. Rhode stretched their to four points midway through the second half only for Navan O’Mahony’s to draw it level with eight minutes to go but late goals for Rhode by Brian Darby and Niall McNamee left Rhode nine points up at full time. It was a great win for Rhode so very well done to all and Rhode now meet Moorefield of Kildare in the semi-final on Sunday the 23rd of November in O’Connor Park.
The Club would like to thank all the supporters who turned out on Sunday and gave the team and club such a left. Thanks also to all the people around Offaly who were also there to support the team it was greatly appreciated. After the game the team and management had a meal in Doyle’s and thanks is expressed to them. Thanks also to O’Toole’s when the team had a meal after the first round game against St. Patrick’s.
The club held a very enjoyable and memorable evening on Friday at the field when all the boys and girls who train on Saturday mornings attended to senior team training and met with all the players, enjoyed small games and had their photo taken with all the players and the children thoroughly enjoyed the evening and it was a great P.R event for the club. Afterwards the children were treated to refreshments by the club which also went down well with all the children and parents.
Minor B Final Rhode v Na Fianna in O’Connor Park on Saturday at 1pm all support greatly appreciated. The best of luck to the team and management team of Kyle Kavanagh, Anton Sullivan, Donal Hickey and Ger Hynes.
The Annual General Meeting of the Rhode GAA Club will take place in Rhode Hall on Friday 5th of December commencing at 7.30 sharp. All members have received notifications of same and nominations have to be forwards to the club’s secretary Ger Hynes on or before Friday.
The County Convention will take place in O’Connor Park under the stand on Tuesday the 9th of December. All motions to be forwarded to the county secretary on or before this Tuesday. Club delegates to be elected at the AGM for the convention.
There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto for the week ending 3rd of November for a Jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn were 11 14 23 29 The club like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Killeen’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation. The Rhode GAA Lotto is the main source of income the club has and now you can play online though our website. The good news is when you play the lotto online you are entitled to free draws, for example pay for seven draws receive the eighth one free, pay for fourteen draws receive two free and so on.
