McNamee and Hope To Be Awarded

Congratulations is extended to Niall McNamee who for the third time has been selected as the Offaly Senior footballer of the year.  It’s a great honour for Niall, his family and for the Rhode GAA Club.  Niall again had another outstanding year for both club and county and is without a doubt one of the best footballers of this generation or indeed any generation.  The awards takes place in the Bridge House on Saturday the 17th of January.

Congratulations is also extended to Fahy hand baller David Hope who collects the Offaly hand baller of the year.  David had another great year winning the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship along with fellow Fahy man Noel Murphy.

Due to a clerical error Jody Gunning was omitted from last week’s notes who helped greatly to the club’s great run to the Leinster Club Championship.  He was a tremendous help on all aspects to the club and especially for providing the commentary on all club games with video man Vincent McEvoy who also done a great job.

The Annual General Meeting of the Rhode GAA Club will take place on Friday the 9th of January at 8pm sharp in Rhode Hall.  All members and intending members are requested to attend.  All attending the meeting will be requested to sign on arrival with club registrar Ger Noonan and membership for 2015 will be taken on the night and we would request members to do so.  All aspects of the club’s year will be discussed as we look back on another great year for the club with the returning of the Dowling Cup and the reaching of the Leinster Senior Club Championship Final for the fourth time in the club’s history been the highlight.
