Statement From Offaly GAA Chairman, Michael Duignan
“As we return to competitive action this weekend with the commencement of our U13 championship we are issuing our 2020 Covid-19 Regulations.
I just wanted to wish everyone good luck in the weeks ahead and just remind clubs of a couple of very important matters ahead of our meeting with all club Chairpersons next Tuesday evening.
1. Attendance at all matches is currently restricted to 200 in total including players, management, match officials, medical, media, supporters etc. We will be issuing further ticketing information in the coming days but, for now, at underage matches I would suggest that entry is restricted to players and their parents only. Please also be vigilant at adult challenge matches to ensure that the number is adhered to and again I would suggest asking non-playing club members to stay at home for now.
2. All persons at the matches must be encouraged to social distance if they are not from the same household.
3. Please ensure entrance and exits to venues have hand sanitiser clearly visible and in use.
4. All players must complete their Health Questionnaire before EVERY activity and again hands sanitised before and after activity.
5. Dressing rooms must remain closed.
6. Please ensure that your Covid-19 officer is given the full support of the club to ensure all guidelines are met.
I would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank all our volunteers for all their exceptional efforts to date as we return to competitive activity. Please keep it up and ensure that you are all fully compliant in the weeks ahead.
Best wishes to all our teams, it really is fantastic to see our club championships commencing.”
(Michael Duignan, Chairman, Offaly GAA)

Please observe social distancing advice and follow guidance from government, HSE and reliable sources.Look after yourself, your family and your neighbors. Especially those who are at greater risk.
Rhode GAA expresses our Deepest Sympathy to the Kellaghan Family on the Passing of our dear Friend, Patron & Trustee Joe Kellaghan.
Peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Husband of the late Claire. Deeply regretted by his sister Mary, sons Ken and Alan, daughters-in-law Trish and Karen, grandchildren Claire, Rachael, Bobby and Jessie, best friends Geraldine and her daughter Shonagh, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Rhode has undoubtedly lost one of its most respected citizens in Joe Kellaghan. Joe played a very active part in his community as a peace Commissioner, involvement in Politics, Boxing, the Gun Club, served in the FCA but his love of farming and the GAA always shone through. Having played for Rhode at under-age level Joe decided to dedicate his time as an administrator of the club serving in several roles such as Secretary , Chairperson , longtime county board delegate, Trustee and finally Patron of the club alongside Fr.Greg Corcoran PP. Joe’s, by the book attitude, served Rhode well during battles at County board meetings which saw him become a much respected administrator serving on a number committee’s within Offaly GAA. He had such pride in his two son’s Alan & Ken who went on to become Rhode & Offaly GAA Stalwart’s on the playing fields serving with distinction guiding both club and county to success. Our thoughts are with you all at this sad time. Legend can be a word that is often overused to describe a person but in Joe’s case it is certainly a fitting description. Joe\’s funeral mass was held on Wednesday afternoon last in St.Peters Church Rhode followed by burial adjoining cemetery. Due to covid-19 only family and close friends (50) were present in the chapel.
A Guard of Honour took place while adhering to the guidance.
May The Green & Gold Be Forever Wrapped Round You Rest In Peace Joe
