Offaly Senior footballers dropped their first brace of points when on Sunday in New Ross they were defeated by Wexford on a 1-14 to 0-12 score line. Offaly trailed throughout and never really looked like securing a victory. It was great to see Anton Sullivan back playing after been out for the last six months with a serious shoulder injury and he played very well. Also on the team and panel from the club were Niall Darby, Niall McNamee and Pauric Sullivan. Offaly continue their Division 3 campaign on Sunday when their play Cavan in O\’Connor Park at 2pm.

St. Joseph\’s school senior side had a good win over Ardscoil (Athy) on Thursday in the Leinster college\’s A championship with a 4-9 to 0-8 victory. On the team from the Rhode Og minor club were Jack Murphy and Niall McCaabe who scored a goal. St. Mary\’s secondary school Edenderry were knocked out of the competition when they were defeated by Knockbeg college at the Carlow IT grounds on a 3-4 to 0-11 score line. The concession of three goals proved to be very costly. The St. Joseph\’s v Ardscoil was played at Annough in Laois.
There is a foundation level coaching course which takes place in Rhode Hall on Saturday from 9.30am to 2ppm. This course is open to anyone who would like to take part in it for more details call Cathal on 087 8250 595.
There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto for the week ending 27th of January for a Jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn were 11 13 17 28. The Rhode GAA Lotto is the main source of income the club has and now you can play online though our website. The good news is when you play the lotto online you are entitled to free draws, for example pay for seven draws receive the eighth one free, pay for fourteen draws receive two free and so on.
