Leagues Starts For Senior Teams

\"NRhode Senior footballers played their first game in this year\’s Division 1 League they were defeated 0-15 to 0-8 by Ballycumber. This game was played in wet and windy conditions Ballycumber had the aid of the elements in the first half and they led at the interval 0-12 to 0-1. Rhode tried hard in the second half but Ballycumber ran out winners in the end.

Rhode Junior footballers were beaten by Cappincur 5-13 to 1-06 .I would like to thank all the lads for turning up in very bad conditions. The team was

Offaly Minor footballers started their Leinster Minor League with a good 1-13 to 2-4 win over Laois in Laois on Saturday. On the team from the Minor Club were Ruairi McNamee and Jack Murphy.

Offaly Senior footballers dropped their second brace of points in this year\’s Division 3 when they were beaten by Cavan on a 1-11 to 0-8 score line. This leaves Offaly at the bottom of division 3 and now must win all of their remaining games to avoid relegation back to division 4. Offaly\’s next game is away to Sligo on the 2nd of March. On the team and panel from the club were Niall McNamee who captained the team, Anton Sullivan, Niall Darby, Pauric Sullivan and Conor McNamee.

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto for the week ending 3rd of February for a Jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn were 4 5 8 16. The club like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Killeen\’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation. Sympathy is extended to the Keogh family of Rhode on the death of their mother Lily who passed away on Monday last and was cremated on Wednesday. Lily lived in Daingean for the last number of years.
