The club extends a very happy and peaceful new year to all concerned with the club players, supporters, team managements and sponsors.
Offaly Senior footballers gained a narrow 0-13 to 0-12 win over UCD in O\’Connor Park. They now play Laois in O\’Moore Park this Wednesday evening and on Sunday Offaly plays Wexford in O\’Connor Park at 2pm.
St. Mary\’s Edenderry Schools Senior College A team captured the north Leinster football title when they had a 1-8 to 0-10 win over St. Pats of Navan in the final. It was a well contested game with the Offaly side just prevailing on the team from the club was Ruairi McNamee who scored four points, was fouled for the penalty and put in a man of the match performances.
Offaly Under 21 footballers in their first competitive game of the season were beaten 1-14 to 0-9 by Cavan in the Hastings Cup.
The Offaly GAA Awards Night sponsors by the Bridge House Hotel takes place this Saturday night. The players of the year in all grades will receive their awards in football, hurling, ladies football and handball also the hall of fame in both hurling and football. Rhode\’s Paul McPadden will receive the Under 21 football award. Paul had a great year for the Rhode Parish side St Michael\’s a team he captained to championship glory for third year in a row, he had a particular good game in the final scoring 1-3, his goal in the second half eased the way for victory.
