Sympathy is extended to the Malone family on the sudden and untimely death of Michael (Haul) Malone. The whole parish of Rhode and indeed the surrounding area were shocked when the news flitted through on Saturday evening on the sad news. Haul was one of the most highly respected person in Rhode. A tremendous family man to Ber his wife, Cathal his son, Irene and Carmel his daughters, brothers Brendan and Kevin and sister Anne. Haul was employed in the ESB at the power station for 40 years or more. There he was held in a very high regard by his fellow workmates and he was a tremendous worker who could turn his hand to anything. He was also a great neighbour and was always on hand to help out whatever the job might be. Haul also enjoyed life to the full and enjoyed a game of golf, he also enjoyed shooting pheasant and his other great love was fishing and it was ironic he passed away at the lakes of Mullingar on Saturday of last week. Haul was also a great supporter of all Rhode and Offaly GAA teams and he was a regular supporter of those teams down the years. All the Rhode GAA Club, the whole community and beyond have lost a true and loyal friend and his passing has left a huge void in the community as a whole. Haul was laid to rest in Rhode cemetery on Wednesday of last week. May he Rest In Peace. Sympathy is also extended to the Farrell and McGlynn families of Edenderry on their recent bereavement.
