9 Rhode Men Awaiting Longford Challenge

The best of luck to the Offaly Senior football team and management who play Longford in the Leinster Senior football championship on Saturday evening at 7pm.  On the team and panel from the club are Brian Darby, Niall Darby, Eoin Rigney, Ken Garry, Conor McNamee, Anton Sullivan, Paul McPadden, James McPadden and Niall McNamee.

 

 

Hard luck to the Offaly Minor footballers who were beaten by Kildare on Wednesday night last in O’Connor Park on a 0-14 to 0-13 score line, it was a game Offaly could and should have won.  The Offaly Minor hurlers were well beaten by Laois in O’Connor Park on Saturday on a 3-15 to 1-13 score line

 

 

Minor Championship Rhode v St Vincent’s in Rhode on Wednesday the 20th at 7.30pm.

 

Division  League Rhode v Raheen in Rhode on Tuesday at 8pm.

 

Division 3 League Rhode v Ferbane in Rhode on Thursday at 7.30

 

Under 16 Championship Rhode v Shamrocks on Monday the 18th at 7.30pm.

 

 

 

Offaly GAA supporters club are holding a fundraising buffet prior to the Offaly v Longford Senior football championship on Saturday at 4.30pm.  There will be a buffet on the evening with speeches from Eugene McGee and Michael Diugnan.  All proceeds go to the Offaly GAA Supporters club who do such great work including player welfare.  All clubs have an obligation to sell tickets and those wishing to attend can obtain their tickets by contacting John Glennon 087 2715 804.  The cost of a ticket is €15, your help would be greatly appreciated.

 

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto for the week ending 4th of May for a Jackpot of €15,000.  The numbers drawn were 6 10 11 30.  The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Doyle’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation.  The following matched three numbers and received €100 each.  The draw this week will take place in O’Toole’s

The Rhode GAA Lotto is the main source of income the club has and now you can play online though our website.  The good news is when you play the lotto online you are entitled to free draws, for example pay for seven draws receive the eighth one free, pay for fourteen draws receive two free and so on.  In other words, the more you play the more free draws you are entitled to!!

 

 

 

 

There will be a memorial mass in St Peter’s church Rhode on Friday night at 8pm for the late Fr Tommy Swords who was laid to rest in Bloemfontein a month ago in South Africa.  The late Fr Tommy was a great follower of all Rhode and Offaly teams and indeed all Irish sports people in particular golfer Shane Lowery.  President of the Rhode GAA Club at the time of his death all members are requested to attend Fr. Tommy’s memorial mass on Friday as we pay our respects to one of our most loyal, faithful and spiritual supporters.

 

 

Get well wishes to all the people of the parish who are ill or hospitalised at the at moment especially to former Senior player and Chairman of the club Liam Swaine and also to Patricia Cully.
