Senior And Intermediates Get Championship Off To A Winning Start

Offaly Senior Football Championship:

Rhode Senior Footballers got the championship off to a winning start on midday Sunday in Durrow beating St.Rynaghs by 10pts  0-17 to 0-07. . Rhode led 0-07 to 0-02 at the half with just a few minutes before  Brian Darby received an unfortunate red card despite this Rhode kicked on after the break to kick a further 10 points to further extend our lead.

Rhode will play Cappincur on the 22nd of April in the second round.

Intermediate Football Championship:

Rhode Intermediates also got the championship off to a fantastic winning start beating Daingean in Ballyfore Sunday evening by 1-16 to 3-07.

Despite the bad start Rhode fought back to lead by a point at half-time . The second half was a great footballing battle with the lead changing a number of times between both teams but Rhode\’s never say die attitude ensured they were not going to end the game with a loss ensured us a 3 point win at full-time.

U,14 Offaly Feile

On Saturday Morning last Rhode held one grouping of the Offaly Feile with many teams in attendance.

In the A  Quarter Finals  Rhode Took on Na Fianna in what was a tight game with Rhode coming out with a two point win  1-03 to 1-01.

Rhode then met St. Broughans in the Semi Final  but unfortunately  St. Broughans were to strong for us in the end with the final score reading  1-00  2-13.  St. Broughans went on to win the Feile Final on Sunday evening.

A Big Thank you to all who helped out on the morning of the Feile especially Minor secretary and parents who made lovely refreshments which  were available to all in attendance and very much appreciated.  Thanks also has to go to Ollie Kesh Murphy for having the pitches in wonderful condition.

Rhode were to play Edenderry U,17s on Saturday but received a walk over.

Offaly GAA Easter Camp

Please Note that no walk ins will be taking on either mornings  please register on-line see below as positions are limited:

Offaly GAA  coaching and games are hosting their first ever 2 day Easter camp for primary school boys and girls from 4th, 5th and 6th class in Rhode GAA field Fr. Dowling Park on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st of April 10am to 2pm .

It a chance for the kids to further their footballing skills with the top Offaly coaches over their holiday term. Full cost for the two days in €20-00 and the children are required to bring a packed Lunch,drink, towel and change of gear

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto Draw that took place on the 3rd of April for a Jackpot of €15,000.  The numbers drawn were 14 16 22 25.  The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Killeen’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation.  The following matched three numbers and received €100 each
