132nd Rhode Rhode GAA Club AGM 2020
The 132nd  Rhode GAA Club took place on Friday night  last virtually .  Chairman John Kilmurray opened the meeting by welcoming all in attendance. Fr,Greg opened with a prayer  which included  all  members  especially those who died during the year.  The minutes of last year’s Agm were read out and then the Club Constitution  was passed; it was down to the various reports where the Secretary , Treasurer ,  Chairman and Minor Chairman gave excellent and detailed reports on the year gone.

In his 2nd agm address chairman John Kilmurray gave an excellent report highlighting the year that was 2020 .  While it was a difficult year there was some positivity with our Senior footballers  collecting the Clubs 30th Senior Championship title . Expressed the clubs deepest sympathies to all who lost a loved one during the year giving special mention to the Late Joe Kellaghan former Patron and Officer of the Club. Thanked those involved in the club who continue to give a helping hand to the eldery and vulnerable in the Parish. Thanked outgoing Treasurer Mary Hannon for her years of service and looks forward to her continuing work on the committee. John noted that while covid-19 restrictions had put a stop in person meetings work was continuing   on moving forward with plans on club plans in relation to development.  He sent best wishes to all who are unwell in the community at the moment, most especially sending best wishes to John Beezy Glennon. Looks forward to a very successful 2021

Minor Club Chairman Ger noonan pointed out that while it was an unusual year much positivity  can be taken from it on the minor club front. Highlighting that playing numbers along with those involved in coaching had risen massively. Takes pride in the face that despite restrictions they got in a massive amount of activities on the training and  playing  fields. Winter training programme was very successful and looks forward to building on that. All involved in the Minor club should take great pride in their work throughout 2020 and is looking forward to 2021.

AOB 

PRO Robert Kellaghan spoke and praised the great work done by all on the committee and the sense of community and togetherness over the year despite Covid-19 .  He thanked his Assistants Paul Hickey and John Glennon for their fantastic work. In finishing Robert thanked all our Offaly press for their continuous support in getting the clubs message across.   

Club Secretary Eoghan Hickey  thanked his assistant Secretary  Regina Swaine for her work and help throughout 2020 and sent his deepest sympathies to Regina and her family on the loss of her Father recently . 

Joe Malone praised the club for the procedures that were put in place so Teams could return safely to training at the club grounds. Joe stated that at every point he and his teams always felt safe. Joe is not going forward as Junior A manager and wished to thank the players, management team and club for their hard work and help during his time in charge. Joe finished up by wishing the incoming management the very best of luck.

Rhode GAA Walking Track 

Our walking track  remains open for our members to exercise safely (once within 5km of your home)  Please do not gather in groups. Members are asked to obey signage and maintain Covid-19 social distancing measures.

We hope all in our community are keeping safe and well. We urge you all to play your part in this war against the invisible virus. Please observe social distancing advice and follow guidance from government, HSE and reliable sources. There is much scaremongering and false information doing the rounds also, so be careful and use good judgement.  Look after yourself, your family and your neighbors. Especially those who are at greater risk. If you or someone you know, needs some help with getting groceries or medication, speak to members of our club and we will do our best help out
