Underage Registration

Underage registration/information evening is on Friday 13th March Rhode Hall from 6.30pm to 7.30pn all are asked to attend.  Membership €20 family €50.  Refreshments will be served and also a little treat for our players, it promises to be a great evening so don\’t miss it.

 

 

Rhode Senior footballers collected their third brace of points in this year’s league when they had a 1-7 to 0-7 win over Ballycumber in Ballycumber on Saturday.

 

St. Mary’s Secondary School Edenderry were narrowly beaten by Good Councel of Wexford in a well contested Leinster Senior college final in Dr Cullen Park on Saturday.  Hard luck to the team and management team.  On the panel from the minor club were Dylan Kavanagh and Shane Lowery.

 

Offaly Senior footballers maintained their unbeaten run in this years Division 4 when they had a 2-13 to 1-16 draw with Leitrim in the national football league on Sunday in O’Connor Park.  On the team and panel from the club were Eoin Rigney, Niall Darby, Brian Darby, Pauric Sullivan, Niall McNamee, Conor McNamee, Anton Sullivan, Paul McPadden, James McPadden and Ken Garry.  This now leaves Offaly and Longford on top of the division each with 7 points.  Offaly play Carlow on Sunday in O’Connor Park.

 

 

Offaly Senior hurlers lost their second Division 1B hurling league game in succession when they were defeated by Waterford in O’Connor Park on a 2-18 to 1-15 score line.

 

Membership of the Club is now due and can be paid to any of the committee members.  Fee’s are the same as last year which are as follows

Membership can be paid to Patricia McManus, Mary Hannon, Ger Hynes, Fionnuala Hickey, Seamus Maguire, Jody Kilmurray, James Murphy, John Glennon, Tracey Murphy and Cathal Smyth.  Membership remains open until 31st of March.

 

 

The club’s dinner-dance and presentation night will take place in the Bridge House on Saturday 21st of March.  There will be a drinks reception at 7.30pm with the meal commencing at 8pm sharp.  The presentation of the Offaly Senior football championship medals 2014 and the 2013 won by the Parish Under 21 side St. Michael’s will be presented by a special guest.  There will also be a special presentation to the members of the Offaly Minor football team from the club who won for Offaly its first All-Ireland football title in 1964 when they beat Cork in that never to be forgotten final.  Coach will leave Rhode village at 6.45pm anyone wishing to go by coach should give their names to any committee member, there will be a nominal fee.  Music on the night will be by the very popular group The Secrets.

 

 

 

The Rod Og Minor Club are running a score forecast for the AIB All-Ireland Senior Club football final Corofin v Slaughtneil on Paddy’s Day.  If you predict the correct score you can win or share €100.  Cards will be on sale local shops or from any committee member or if you are interested in getting a card yourself please contract Pat McManus on 087 681 2860.

 

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto for the week ending 2nd of March for a Jackpot of €15,000.  The numbers drawn were 11 13 23 30  The club would like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Doyle’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation.  The following matched three numbers and received €70 each.  Next week’s draw takes place in Doyle’s

Sympathy is extended to the Nolan family of Edenderry on the sudden death of Jim on Sunday of last week.  The deceased was the father of the Rhode Parish Enterprise supervisor Mary Pender.  He was laid to rest in Edenderry cemetery on Tuesday last.  May he Rest In Peace.
