U13s Crowned County Champions As Big Weekend Ahead for Our Adult Teams .

U13B County Champions!!

Rhode U13\’s boys togged out in Mucklagh on Sunday morning 10th October to contest the 2021 Offaly B Cup Competition against Cloghan. With a fog still in the air and a damp ground both teams faced the throw-in at 11am. Captain on the day Matthew McBride chose to play into the slight breeze and Rhode started very strongly but it took a few missed chances to steady their feet before they put the first scores on the board. Going in at half time on a score line of 3-4 to 1-4, Rhode remained in control for the rest of the match and were able to empty the bench as they ran out well deserved winners on a scoreline of 7-12 to 1-9. A special mention goes to full back Jason Curley who unfortunately broke his arm whilst fielding a high ball and landing awkwardly and we wish him a speedy recovery. The management team of Stephen Glennon and trainers Declan Curley, Hugh Crombie and Michael Fleming would like to thank so many people within the club who helped us prepare for many weeks in advance. A special mention goes to John Kilmurray, Ger Noonan, Eoghan Hickey and Tracey Murphy who left us wanting for nothing. To Darren Curley (Construction), David Galvin ,Dingle Daly, Ruairi McNamee, Kenneth Garry, Anton Sullivan (ACE Recovery), Niall McNamee (Twelves), Dylan Kavanagh, Darren Garry, Keith Murphy and Shane Lowry who all helped us out and gave the boys their time on so many occasions to help with their skills development, we thank you. To those we\’ve not called out, again thank you sincerely.Thank you to Pauric Sullivan (Mock Media) and his more than capable and excellent commentators Roy Malone and Donal Hickey, thank you for providing the boys with a wonderful memory of the game which they thoroughly enjoyed seeing again that evening. Big thank you to Colm Killeen for giving the young lads refreshments when they were rewatching the game.Rhode would like to thank Mucklagh for the use of their grounds and to Brian Lowry who refereed the match in an excellent fashion for both teams and to Cloghan for such a sporting match with some excellent footballers on their team. Finally and most importantly of all, the 29 boys who took to the field that morning, who braved many late and wet evenings to train with us and who are a credit to their parents, families and to our small village, well done, well deserved and enjoy the coming days and weeks.
The team on the day consisted of: Peter McGrath, Oscar Egan, Jason Curley, Brian Curley, Dylan Curley, Jamie Dalton, Tom Lacey (1pt), Matthew McBride (Captain), Dermot Crombie (1-1), Daithi McCabe, Cian McNamee (4-5), AJ Hickey (1pt), Gavin Mayon, Killian Dunne (2-2), Drew Kennedy Fleming(2pts), Oisin Quinn, Keelan Murphy, Jake Murphy, Jack Arrol, Luke Arrol, Ryan Glennon, Bobby Kelleghan, Jack Curley, Tadhg McNamee, Noah Burke, Rhys Galvin, Cillian Lynch, Jake Gowran and Leon John Quinn.
