The Offaly GAA Championship draws took place at the County Board meeting on Tuesday night and the football draw is as follows

Group 2:
Rhode, Clara, Ballycumber, St Rynagh\’s, Kilcormac-Killoughey and Ferbane.
This year only three teams qualify out of the group.
Top team in each group qualify for semi-final
Second and Third teams in each group qualify for quarter finals
Bottom two teams in each group play Senior B next year
Four teams who qualify for semi-finals of Intermediate promoted to Senior B

Rhode Senior footballers gained their first brace of points in this year\’s league when they had a good won over St Brigid\’s in Rhode on Friday night. It marked the return of Anton Sullivan to the Rhode colours who missed most of last year\’s campaign due to a shoulder injury.
Rhode Division 3 footballers recorded their first win in this year\’s league when they recorded a 2-6 to 0-8 win over Clara in Clara on Sunday. Kieran Hope scored 2 goals Glenn O\’Connell scored 5 points and Colm Rigney scored the other.

Offaly Under 21 footballers qualified for the quarter final of the Leinster Under 21 championship when on Wednesday night in Taghmon Co. Wexford they beat the home side with an impressive 1-16 to 0-6. Offaly now meet Kildare in Athy in the quarter final. On the team and panel from the club were Ruairi and Conor McNamee, Philip Foy of Clonmore and Thomas Mooney of St. Brigid\’s who play their under 21 football with the Rhode parish side.
Offaly Senior footballers play a crucial league Division 3 game on Sunday against Sligo in Markievicz Park a win is a must. On the panel of selection from the club are Niall McNamee, Niall Darby, Anton Sullivan, Pauric Sullivan and Conor McNamee.

Cork 1-8
Offaly Minor footballers qualified for the Leinster Minor league final when they had a fully deserved win over Cork in Clonbullogue on Saturday on a 1-9 to 1-8 score line. Cork led 1-6 to 0-3 at the interval but a great second half performance gained Offaly victorious by a single point. On the team and panel from the Rhode Og Minor Club were Ruairi McNamee who had an excellent game and Jack Murphy. Offaly now play Longford in the final on Thursday night in Moate, Offaly had a 2-16 to 0-3 win over Westmeath also in the Leinster Minor League.
Offaly Senior hurlers lost their second league game in a row when they were defeated 2-19 to 2-13 by Wexford in New Ross on Sunday. Offaly now play Cork in Cork on Sunday week.

There was no winner of the Rhode GAA Lotto for the week ending 17th of February for a Jackpot of €15,000. The numbers drawn were 3 5 14 19. The club like to thank all those who supported the draw and thanks to Doyle\’s for the use of their premises and for their help and cooperation. Sympathy is extended to the Mooney family of Croghan on the death of their mother Una whose remains were interred to Croghan cemetery on Wednesday. The deceased was mother of Lucy McNamee Fahy and grandmother to Offaly and Rhode players Alan and Niall McNamee. Sympathy is also extended to Fr. McEvoy PP of Rhode and Edenderry on the death of his father Patrick whose remains were interred to Mountmelrick cemetery on Thursday. Also to the Dooley family of Edenderry on the death of Thomas whose remains were also interred on Thursday to Edenderry cemetery and to the Nolan family of Rhode on the death of Mrs Perry in London the deceased was a sister of Derry Nolan Rhode.
